    For example I don’t smoke,
but I’ve got friends who are smoking.
They don’t offerd me cigarett ‘couse they know that
    I’m not smoking.
They respect it. This is they life and they decade
    about it.
    We can not forbidden it.

I cannot understand why people smoke: it is bad for your lungs; it destroys your taste; it makes your clothes smell; it is bad for your skin, it costs a lot of money £4.60 pounds or 25 Zloty.
I would not want a girlfriend who smokes – sorry Monica !

you are free to smoke but consider others such as those with bronchitis so kepp public smoking to a minimum and to a place where second hand smoke will be little

i think that smoking should be banned in public places
because you should not have to suffer the Consequences of smoking if you choose not to smoke yourself. somoking can seriously damage your body and can lead to all sorts of cancers. so don’t smoke!!!
and if you have to smoke, ahve a bit of respect for the bodies of those around you

    you are right Sarah.

It amazes me that people will pay a fortune to buy something that will destroy their lungs, make them and their surroundings smell.

and the same people are probably worried about catching Bird Flu when they are contributing to their own deaths every day

our government has just decided that no smoking will be allowed in public places from summer 2007. They claim it will encourage 600 000 to give up smoking. Another statistic mentioned – 450 teenagers start smoking each day in GB. Incredible.

For me smoking is a suicide. Pointless and sensless. I’m never going to smoke and I wouldn’t like to have a boyfriend who smokes… Can you imagine kissing with somebody who smokes?? Simply disgusting.

I think that young people shouldn’t smoke because it can lead to the lung cancer. Smoking should be banned in such places as: railway stations, buses, streets, parks and ete.

Some people consider smoking as a social activity just like going for a pint. It has also been recommended as a great stress reducer. Cigarettes are expensive because of the heavy tax placed on it by the government. This revenue is used to pay for the large amounts of hospital treatments as a result of smoking related illnesses. One solution to the problem of eradicating smoking related illnesses is to ban cigarettes. It will save many people from the misery caused by smoking. However this move will obviously be very unpopular with smokers. Kaolina I don’t think it is fair to label smokers as stupid. After all there are many famous smokers- Bruce Willis, Winston Churchill, Fidel Castro are just a few to name. Its not easy to give up smoking. Nicotene patches to help but to give up but to quit smoking also requires alot of willpower.
Another way to decrease the number of smokers is to charge them for hospital treatment. But this will not have an immediate effect on the number of smokers. It will take time for the number to decrease this way. Although it is one way of increasing government revenue which can be better spent on other things such as school materials; it isn’t fair on smokers to force them to “cough up” on medical treatment. Why should smokers have to pay for their treatment when alcholics are an equally heavy burden on society. The same is with people who take illegal drugs.
I myself will try my best to resist smoking and I hope all of you will do the same. Smoking cigarrettes causes a great burden on your health and on your money.

I am glad that there has been a ban of smoking in public places here in England:D Now I don’t have to breathe in other people’s cigarette smoke.
