Christmas time – for me it’s one of the most wonderful time during year. My whole family spend time together and think about nothing but relaxing, eating and having fun… But before we sit together on the table during Christmas Eve (we in Poland celebrate it on 24th December) we have got to cook, tidy, clean, decorate the Christmas Tree and do the rest of these tiring household jobs. After the hard day’s work we sit on the table, share the holy wafer and tell greetings. Then we eat (the most popular dishes are red bosch with pies, carp, potatoes, sour cabbage with peas and poppy seed cake). In the midnight we go on the Christmas Mass, but usually I’m too tired and fall asleep after opening presents (presents – Santa Claus (yeah, let’s say) comes through the chimney and leaves present under the Christmas Tree; we open them after or before dinner on Christmas Eve). Next two days are called First and Second Cristmas Days. We spend them with our families (we visit our family members who couldn’t spend Christmas Eve with us. The worst things about Christmas are Christmas Carols which are sung by popular Polish singers who make rock songs of a sleepy carols and I have to listen to them because my family like eating dinner and listening to the radio. Very annoying.

Iza, that sounds like a great Christmas in Poland.
It is nice that you still celebrate Christmas for religious reasons. Here is is very commericial. It annoys me that Christmas cards and Christmas trees (the plastic ones) are in the shops from September onwards. I think you have lots of snow too.
We dream of a white Christmas.

I think I’ll come to Poland next year :-)

    CHRISTAMS CUSTOMS
In my house there are a lot of Christmas customs. We always
have white tablecloth in christmas Eve. Under the tablecloth there is hay. We bring Christams tree on Christmas Eve. We unpack presents after Christmas Eve supper. Angels bring presents. We always share the wafer after supper. Christmas is very good time for me!

What a pity that Christmas goes so quickly.

Do you think that it is important to have
    snow at Christmas?

Here in GB we usually have about 5 degrees and rain.
    Very boring!
