I don`t wear uniform, but I think this is very good idea. Sometimes it`s very nice. Students from poor families can wear the same clothes as rich students. They feel good.

I think,it isn’t good idea because in some students may feel strange and uncomfortable in uniforms, especially nowadays.but somebody can think that it is original idea.

i think school uniform is an intergral part of school life and gives uniformity and as stated earlier allows people from diverse backgrounds to look and feel the same it also has the neat uniformity which looks very nice school uniform forever!!!!!

I have worn a uniform all my life and so have gotten used to it. In sixth form I get to wear a suit which I feel makes me look suave and sophisticated. As for casual dress I would still feel I have to wear smart clothes and I do not have many clothes which I would class as being smart so it is probably best for me to wear a uniform.

I have worn uniform since I can remember. I think that it shows the school as a community. It represents the school as being smart. Anyway…it is easier and quicker to get dressed in a morning when you know what you have to wear!

Hannah, can you explain your comment about school uniform?
I did not know that you have to wear a unifrom at your school. In the photo of your group you are all wearing your own clothes.

School uniforms are great. They stop vilance(such as bulling). We can also pay more attention to school not what we wear.

I think it’s horrible idea. Nobody can tell me that I must wear school uniform. I prefer free hip hop style and I’ll newer decided to go to the school in wich I’ll must wear uniform

I think the school uniforms are good idea. Everybody look the same. And nobody is envious of each other’s clothes. But on the other hand the school uniforms are bad idea, because it’s boring – everybody look like the same. So maybe school uniforms shuold be colorfull????

Simon is a rebel ! … Ewa has some interesting ideas.
Two or three times a year we can come to school in our own clothes – but we have to pay 1 pound for the privilege.
The money is for charity…. maybe OXFAM or the Red Cross In this way we can give 1300 pounds to chartity.

    yeahh//so school uniforms..not a good idea..
no student wants to wear them
how would the express there selves..
    and be different
    everyone would feel uncompfortable
and School uniforms have no use outside of school.

School Uniforms…bleck. They completely destroy a child’s individuality. The thing is that it doesn’t stop bullying or anything like that. Sure, the kids are in uniform. They can still buy their own book-bag or school supplies and rave about their expensive hair. The way a person dresses doesn’t affect how they act; the way they were raised effects the way they act. Also, the schools don’t let the kids go to their classes if they aren’t in perfect uniform. Isn’t that denying the kid their education, which is their reason for being there? Yeah, they would have no purpose after school. The gaurdian of the kid would still have to buy some kind of after school and weekend clothes.

I think that there are 2 sides of the goods and bads of uniforms. I don’t wear a uniform and don’t plan to but I think they ruin the fact of expressing yourself so you can’t tell what a persons personality and style is.

    February 13th, 2006 | 2:51 pm

i think school uniforms are a horrible idea, like if some kids parents are looking for them in a crowd of 80 kids they won’t be able to find their kid because their al wearing the same thing, or if that happend and there was no uniform the parent can eaisly find their kid by rememberning what thrie kid wore to school that morning.

I believe uniforms can be good but most of the time they are really bad. For example the strict rules often do not let people express there religeous beliefs. I have to wear a dress and a huge hat, when it’s windy somehow you have to stop you dress blowing up and hat blowing off. Very embarrasing. Students don’t need to wear different cloths to express their different status. It always comes through in the end. You have your popular people and not so popular people at my school despite the uniform. Uniforms are incredibly expensive. A mere hat costs about 90 dollars. mufti suddenly seems so cheap. Repressing a child’s indivuality and making him dress like others will not increase school spirit and if any of you have seen those amazing crazy japanese fashions you’ll realise people let loose when they are free from repression.

In my school in Zawiercie lessons last from 8 till 2 pm. In Poland we haven’t breaks for lunch. Breaks last 10 minutes. In the class there are pictures of pupils. We learn for45 minutes,
then is break. Corridors are very nice, because painted on
the beautiuful colours: yellow, green and pink. In Poland children wear clothes. School uniforms would be good.

well we all wear a uniform – view it here
    http://www.rgshw.com/school/prosp/developments.htm

Pupils need to rebel so we hang our shirts outside our trousers. Wow !

Once or twoce a year we pay a pound to wear mufti – our normal clothes – and the money goes to charity.

The uniform is a reminder that we are in school to work. You get used to it and it gives a school an identity.

I think school Uniforms are a good idea because if wear stylish clothes then people who are poor wont be able to afford it . And it wont be fair if they cant afford it and other people can. Them wear it to school. People that are poor would have to wear school uniform .and people would bully them because they get to wear posh clothes and poor people cant wear posh clothes.
So i think it would be fair to and a good idea to wear school uniforms.

that’s a fair point but a lot of people who would not wear a school uniform are happy to wear the standard ‘uniform’ of their gang … baseball cap, trainers, sports style baggy trousers, hoody top. And they think they are showing their individuality. Far from it. They are conforming as much as the rest but they are too blinkered to recognise the fact.

i think we should wear school uniforms because if wear different clothe and you are not in style the other students start to look at you, because you don’t know how to match the colors or you don’t have enough money to buy good clothe, so with the school uniforms all those things can change, because you don’t have to worry about what you wear and your mom doesn’t have to spend anymore money in your clothing.

I agree with the statement which says that students

Even though my school doesn’t have uniforms, i think they are somewhat bad and somewhat good… that’s why the debate is so contriversial.

    GOOD
They bring unity to the schools and make people that can’t buy the best clothes feel good. They also make a school look sophistacated and mature. They also stop some types of bullying like pick on on the poor kid and someone not having the same type of clothes as you.

    BAD
They can bring unconfortability and may contridict some cultures like indians or lebinese. They also may bring people to think that the world is starting to become too much of the same. They may also cause a certain “to be forced” idea in someone’s head.

Well anyways, that is my opinion, they are some good and some bad… and in my point of vue… i dont know what i want, i just follow what the bosses say. Have a great day… see ya

PS: i found this site by trying to find ideas on a debate at school =-)

where i live all of the schools wear uniform except for perhaps the international schools. I think it promotes
school spirit and prevents jealousy and the need for expensive clothes, dressing to impress. But they should let us wear our hair, nails, and make up how we want so we can still be indvidual

  52.   James
    June 13th, 2006 | 6:29 pm

we have discovered in the recent hot weather in southern England that a blazer and tie are not the most comfortable garments to wear. The headmaster announces in assembly that we can adopt ’shirt-sleeve’ order. That means we can take off our ties and jackets during the day. But we are supposed to wear them on the way home at the end of the day.

  53.   Céili
    July 4th, 2006 | 7:13 pm

I have to wear a school uniform everyday and although i hate wearing it, i think that uniform is for the best. If I wore my own clothes every day I would feel under pressure all the time to look my best and follow the right fashions. People are quick to judge others – often wrongly on what they are wearing (although we don’t like to admit it) whereas in school uniform everyone is given a chance to prove themselves on personality.

uniforms should be made more attractive and comfortable though.

In my school isn’t school uniforms. I think, than school

It’s bad idea, because girls must wear skirt. And it is
very uncomfortable in school. And my wardrobe will be poorer.

  58.   Asia&Pati
    September 19th, 2006 | 12:58 pm

I think that it’s very very bad idea becouse everyone looks like the same and it will be borring. It is not practical. Uniforms have the same colors for example black and white. And you can look like “black man” and it looks like very sad. Of course students can wear uniforms for celebrations in school or on the competitions with other schools.

yes – but when girls have a uniform they try to find ways to disobey. They roll up their skirt so it is really short or they wear non-standard blouses and pullovers. Muslim pupils have a problem too. In france the headscarf has been very controversial

  68.   Łukasz
    October 15th, 2006 | 3:38 pm

School uniforms The idea of school uniforms is controversial. Everyone can recognise students, if they wear a special clothes, however they can’t be anonymous and wear what they want. So I’d rather wear own suits (which are in my style)

  69.   Michał

I feel that uniforms can at times be a good thing but at other times can be terrible. Advantages of uniform include that you are always looking smart and that there is no divide between rich and poor. However, disadvantages are that they can become uncomfortable, especially in the summer months when wearing a black suit can become irritating. Most importantly though, I feel that uniforms have enough advantages to implement them in schools, after all, it is what you will be expected to where in most jobs so why not get used to it now?

Uniforms are lame cause my daddy make a lot of money and by me a whole bunch of regular clothes and then he has to spend about 150$ on one uniform, when he could just give the money to me. Also i think that you should show your individuality, if youre rich you shouldnt have to wear the same as those broke losers. my daady worked hard to give me my lovely life its not our faught that the poor
kids parents didnt work thats what they earned and thats what they get

I think uniforms are a good thing. When I wear my school uniform I feel pride because i’m a part of something. Uniforms symbolize equality among individuals. Because our unifroms at school are all the same it reflects that we are the same. In other words we are equal. Uniforms send out good messages about the school. For example it gives the school an image which is smart and formal.

i think uniforms are very bad idea there itching and they can get sweaty, uniforms don’t prevent violence schools, students can find a way to bully and fight one aonther with uniforms, they cost to much andstudents should be able to dress in normal closs they should be able to express themselves!!! and most of all alot of kids just don’t like uniforms.SCHOOL UNIFORMS ARE A STUPID IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  78.   Henryk
    January 18th, 2007 | 3:16 pm

School uniforms IS NOT A STUPID IDEA!!! If you have a school uniform that makes you itch then buy a new one samantha!! Some people are insulted and bullied by the clothes they wear. School uniforms counter this bullying. Sometimes in schools which do not have school uniforms some girls expose parts of their bodies which may insult some people and make the school look like a “whore house”!!! I beleive students should be allowed to express themselves but not by wearing their own clothes. This would cause social divisions and increase bullying. School uniforms is a GOOD IDEA and thats that!!

With all due respect Kiana it would be appreciated if you could express your view in a more intelligent way and not use words like “wack” and “holla”. This is a blogsite for educated people.
Moving on, school uniforms make you look smart and everyone who wears one should be proud of the school they represent.

To my opinion, I would’nt wear a uniform because it express my personality and that’s boring if everybody look the same but there is a lot of desadvantages too.

hay in australia school colours are good because they make you not look poor when you are.

we don’t wear uniforms,But we will next year. i think its a bad idea because you should have the choice of what u want 2 wear. kidz should not have 2 be like grown-ups by dressing li ke them, when they go 2 work. we should get 2 choose what we want. don’t u think???!!!!!!

  87.   Shaliyah Ivey

yea we should wear school uniform because when we wear school uniform we look more decent and we show the respect that we have for our school and for our selves.
so if u decide to you can take my advice and wear the school uniform.
